Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco in Pink and an Upside Down Cake!

Kaley reads Rebellious Brides!!! Okay, that is just a rumor I made up. But she sure is a rebel for choosing this unpretentious pink Vera Wang Dress. It was just so her! Barbie pink and all. I also love how she had her hair down!

And in true geekiness/nerdiness (?!), her cake had some Physics involved, one of Newton's law to be exact (defying gravity!). My mind went "boom" ala Big Bang when I saw her upside down chandelier cake. Now, that is one rebellious wedding cake!

"When it came time to design the main cake, I wanted to know more about the décor, her dress, stationery, etc….anything that could give me inspiration. Kaley told me that it couldn’t be too over-the-top and fabulous. Danielle showed me a deck from Rrivre, which included giant chandeliers. Whaaaat? Immediately an image of a chandelier, floating just off the ground with a giant cake nested on top of it came into my head. Kaley was excited about it, so I started sketching it. As I was sketching this concept, another variation popped into my head. It made me pause for a quick second, which Kaley picked up on. She could see the wheels turning in my head and asked what I was thinking. I tried to get her to go back to the sketch of the cake I was working on, but she insisted that I tell her what I was thinking! I told her that I had a vision of the chandelier high with the cake upside down as an extension of the chandelier…like a finial. She lost it! She was down with it immediately. It hadn’t been done before to my knowledge. It would surely be an engineering feat. There was no looking back after that. I got to sketching and planning and working with Rrivre to see how we were going to make this thing work." -The Butter End

Goodness, what will rebel brides like Kaley and suppliers like the Butter End Cakery think of next! What's more, this awesome celebrity wedding was done on New Year's eve. How tremendously memorable! Indeed, Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting's wedding surely made a Big Bang!

Throwback Thursdays

Call me sentimental but my favorite Jason Magbanua videos are not necessarily the new ones but those that I've watched when I was still single and 'un-engaged'. There's something about that time in your life when you'd watch during lunch break with officemates, gushing and drooling at his videos then hoping, praying, and dreaming that it would be you someday.

Here's one of my absolute favorites.Incidentally, check out the featured rebel bride here who donned a hot pink gown! To be rebellious in 2008--wow, that's pretty remarkable! Enjoy :)

Rebellious Bride Precious Lara's Gown

When we saw  Precious Lara & Marco's wedding, we immediately wanted to feature it on the blog--not only because it was a rebellious celebrity wedding but more so because the bride donned a rebellious gown. So we instantly thought of interviewing Rebellious Bunch - Veejay Floresca to know more about this fantabulous gown and this is what he had to say:

Veejay: When I was asked by Lara to make her wedding gown, I was so happy and very nervous!!! haha.. I know this is going to be a celebrity wedding and a lot of pressure was on me since she won Miss International. When I knew that she was pregnant, the whole pressure was doubled! haha.. but like the basic rule when dressing up a woman, hide her flaws, flaunt her assets. I applied this rule. She has super nice legs, I showed it off--it will make her walk easier, and I made the skirt voluminous and soft to hide the tummy. I chose a blush color because Lara doesn't want a traditional wedding gown ;-) 

While I was in San Francisco, I saw this beautiful lace and I immediately bought it without even looking at the tag! hahaha ;-)

We just absolutely adore Precious Lara's gown and we applaud her for taking this rebellious risk. We once said  that it is extra difficult to be rebellious when you are a public figure because it makes you vulnerable to more scrutiny and so we truly admire the confidence and class that our rebellious celebrity bride has taken for their wonderful wedding. Rebellious Bride Sigrid's Style

You might recognize Dra. Sigrid from the Tattoos and Angels Prenup feature we've had a couple of weeks ago. And we wanted to dedicate a separate feature on Sigrid's anti-white gown and her entourage styling because we applaud how she was able to implement her ideas despite the fact that her husband comes from a traditional family.

For one thing, her gown is just absolutely breathtaking! And this is just one of the best examples of how going anti-white can just be as beautiful and just as bridal-worthy. She also had a black & pink dress code for her entourage--and while this combo can be tricky, she also managed to execute this together with her designer, with class and sass.

Rebellious Brides: What's the story behind your anti-white gown? Why didn't you wear the usual white gown? Did you encounter any challenges along the way?

Sigrid: For one, I find the color white old fashioned. I also wanted to stand out among other brides. :) The only problem I encountered with my gown's color is choosing the color itself. Wanting to be different, my 1st gown came out blush pink --too debutante for me. When I finally agreed on a champagne color, our problem was the color blending of each petal on the skirt & train. We finally agreed on 40% ivory, 40% champagne, & 20% of a shade darker than champagne.

RB: The styling of your entourage is also quite unique! Who made them and why did you choose this for your entourage?

The entourage gowns & suits were made by Haidee Alindogan (of the former Aviad Couture) :) Unlike other brides who want to be the most beautiful on their day & down-play their entourage's dresses, I wanted my girls to be as beautiful as I am :) I wanted them to be bongga too. I initially chose the motif black & fuchsia, but a lot of fuchsia material tends to look cheap. We switched then to black & baby/blush pink, like that of Chanel.

Once again, congratulations to Sigrid & Stephen! And we hope that Sigrid's rebellious yet ever-so-tasteful, sophisticated style can serve as an inspiration to every aspiring RB out there. We'd also like to share their wonderful wedding video by Bob Nicolas because it gives us a preview on the other creative ideas of the wedding--watch out for the cute part where they walk down the aisle with their puppy, the bride's serendipitous story that she included in her vows, and the awesome wedding cake that doesn't even look like a cake!
