Think Before You Pick

When Rebellious Bunch - Toto Villaruel posted this, I knew in a heartbeat that we had to have these photo blogs featured in RB because I just loved the rebellious way he is taking a stand for his passion and craft.



To be quite honest, before I got engaged, my vision of my dream Boracay wedding was that I'll just probably ask someone to take photos during our wedding--in my mind, it was a more affordable way to do things. But that was just me--my husband (and boyfriend at that time) had a different take, bless him. When we got engaged, one of the things he was firm about was that we needed to have a kick-ass  photographer.

And when I started researching on wedding photographers, boy was I hooked. Now, I am so passionate about Filipino wedding photographers I wanna get married over and over again just to be able to work with my ever growing favorites haha.

Just like my old beliefs, a lot of the brides also think of scrimping on their photographs. Some even say "pare-pareho lang maman yan kukuha nalang ako ng mas mura" (They are all the same, I'll just get someone affordable) while some even say that they'll just buy a good camera and have someone take photos--the thing is, these couples eventually end up regretting their decisions. I always say that you should allow yourself to have 3 splurges in your wedding then budget the rest of the elements well--and getting a good if not the best photographer is definitely high up on that top 3. At the end of the day, your photos (and video), will be the only things you will ever have to immortalize your big day.

Have I convinced you yet? If I have, make sure to carefully evaluate who you get. Don't be wow-ed by fancy names, fancy taglines, fancy package rates, fancy celebrity weddings, fancy bridal expos, and paid features/listings. Be discerning especially since plagiarism is becoming so rampant these days. Research very, very well. THINK before you pick.
