Our Thoughts on Our Fabulous Reception at The Westin Dublin.

Gorgeous Couple, Brendan & Rossa, who recently hosted their Reception at The Westin Dublin have been kind enough to share with us their memories of their happy and special day and why it is they chose The Westin Dublin.

1. Tell us why you chose The Westin Dublin as your venue?

We looked at several venues in all price ranges and locations. We chose the Westin for its convenient city centre location and more importantly for its great ambience. The Banking Hall has a real wow factor, and the Atrium is also very impressive. As we were planning a medium sized reception for 80-90 people, cost was a somewhat important factor. The Westin seemed to be at the more expensive end of the range we were looking at, but actually when we added everything up, the premium over much less impressive locations was relatively small. We expected to be able to justify the premium in terms of the ambience and quality. And so it turned out, in spades.

2. What was so unique or special about the venue for you?

It's hard to pick one. As we said, the Banking Hall and the Atrium are fantastic spaces for any event. The presidential suite was also pretty amazing, even though that didn't form part of our decision process.

3. What's your favourite memory of your special day here?

On a personal level, it has to be the speech that our "best man" made, which was very touching. From the point of view of the hotel, it was the 20-minute nap that the hotel's Brides co-ordinator insisted we take, between the Reception and Dinner. It enabled us to survive the rest of the long day! I know you'll ask us later about the attention to detail, the quality of the food and the quality of the service, all of which made it a very special day.

4. What's your favourite photo (and why), taken on the day, at The Westin Dublin?

Our Brides co-ordinator took a really nice picture of the two of us on our way to the Reception, and she had it ready in our suite later that evening. It was a lovely surprise. There were several very nice unposed shots taken by our photographer and guests. And one of favourite gifts was a camcorder with the whole of the evening's festivities recorded on it by one of our friends.

5. What did you serve at your reception? Tell us about the meal?

Before getting into the details, can we say that every single guest was extremely complimentary about the food. We started with a goat's cheese tartlet, followed by butternut squash soup. We had a special champagne sorbet course, and decided to hold the speeches at that point of the evening, so that we and the guests had had something to eat but were not yet stuffed. For main course we had beef fillet medallions which were extremely tender. Dessert was white chocolate mousse. We were lucky that our party had only a few people who needed special diets, but the hotel were extremely accommodating and checked personally with each guest before service started. The feedback was 100% complimentary.

6. Did you do anything special or different on your special day at the venue?

The whole event was very special. We were lucky to have selected a great Brides band, Perfect Day.

7. What would you say to couples considering The Westin Dublin as their venue?

If you're worried about the cost, be sure you are doing a like-for-like comparison, and factor in the excellent quality. We cannot praise the food and service highly enough. The interior of the hotel has some great photogenic locations, but for outdoor shots you should plan some time in St Stephen's Green, or across the street in Trinity College.

8. What would you say about the staff at The Westin Dublin?

Superb. I've never before been at an event where the sole focus of the staff seemed to be to make the experience as enjoyable as humanly possible for all the guests and particularly ourselves. This applies to every staff member that we met - our Brides planners, the restaurant management team and every single member of the waiting staff.

9. What are your thoughts on the Presidential Suite at The Westin Dublin?

We wish our apartment was as big and luxurious - it would be interesting to find out what other (!) celebrities have stayed there. It is a haven of tranquility, particularly given the hectic times outside the room. Hint to any couple: Book it for the night of the dinner (of course) and also for at least one more night so that you can spend the day after your celebration recovering in luxury

10. What is your favourite spot/ place at The Westin Dublin?

The banking hall with its stunning murals and chandeliers. On second thoughts - it has to be the atrium bar reaching to the sky while you have a cocktail or canape. No hold on - the presidential suite was our private enclave. Just can't decide.
