Pumpkin: The Foodie Catering Company

Pumpkin's Cua Pao

My husband and I have somehow been labeled as a foodie couple by others. We are by no means the kind of duo that would always be in the know of the latest fads and trends in the local foodie scene. But yes, I guess in our own way we can be called a foodie couple based on our appreciation of food on how it tastes, to how it's prepared, down to how the ingredients have been sourced. This of course reflected so much in our Boracay wedding--when we took it upon ourselves to bring our guests to Real Coffee and True Food instead of the usual reception fare. This further resonated in the blog when we introduced the "Anti-Reception" movement which has since been one of our most popular posts of all time.

So when Chef Raymond Ko and his wife explained their vision for Pumpkin, it made me nod. It made me agree. It just made sense. Pumpkin Catering wants catering to go back to what it is supposed to be for: good food. The team wants the approach to be down-to-earth, unpretentious, no frills, no fuss.

Pumpkin's Specialties/Favorites: Southern Fried Chicken & Pata Tim

The team behind Pumpkin is quick to explain that they are by no means competing with the popular caterers out there--simply because they want to address a different niche: couples who would like to prioritize food above all. Their styling principle is direct-to-the-point. They don't do any intricate styling because they'd like to focus on the food requirements, generous portions, and fairly priced packages.

Though they admit to be lacking in styling prowess, they are still quite generous and thoughtful in providing a tasteful look for their clients with handcrafted tables and shabby chic styling carefully collaborated with the likes of Rebellious Brides, Candidly Pretty, and soon A Dash of Jamie. (SIDENOTE: BTW! We have a promo with Pumpkin wherein you can get our Wedding Agency Services for FREE if you are their client)

Pumpkin's Aroz con Pollo and Pulled Pork Sliders

Pumpkin's Wedding Packages start at P349++ and they accept intimate weddings (which is quite rare) starting at P649++ but essentially they are open to customising the packages based on your preferences and budget. You can email them at pumpkinmanila@gmail.com but they highly encourage scheduling for a Food Tasting. They promise to delight you with the food -- and it's for you to decide if they are worth booking after the tasting. Tasting Fee is P1,500 for 4 pax and refundable when you book with them.

Pumpkin is gearing up to delight new clients with monthly treats.
Here's the one for Jan-Feb! :)

As a "foodie" my hubb and I are quite particular with food. Especially the hubb since he's been in the food industry for more than a decade and he's been a food/restaurant consultant for quite some time. So if you ask us if we genuinely believe in Pumpkin, we do. In RB, we pride ourselves for being picky on who to promote and you guys know we can be opinionated. And so we wouldn't be promoting and collaborating w/ Pumpkin if we didn't enjoy the food. Which ones are our faves? Where to begin?!? We love the Southern Fried Chicken, Roast Beef, Roasted Pork Loin in Sarsaparilla Sauce, Mac n Cheese, Carbonara, Escabeche, Burger Sliders, Savory Chicken, Pata Tim (this came with a special kind of rice which was quite addicting!), Steak, Cua Pao, Pulled Pork, Paella, Tonkatsu, and Turkey! I'm also not a fan of Leche Flan but I like theirs. To be fair, we haven't exactly tried the other cuisines but at least based on the ones we've tried, these are the dishes that stood out for us. Another testament to their good food is my dad--who is quite hard to please but he enjoyed the Southern Fried Chicken and the Pork Loin w/ Sarsaparilla Sauce a lot!

So are you a foodie couple? Are you having an intimate wedding and finding yourselves being turned down by other caterers? Are you the kind of couple who don't wanna prioritise styling but you still definitely want your reception to look tasteful and fun? Then maybe Pumpkin is the one for you!
