The Perfect Palette - How to select your Brides Colours

Planning a Brides takes a lot of thought, creativity, and attention to detail. One of the most important details to settle early on is the colour scheme, since everything from bridesmaid dresses to bouquets to table centrepieces incorporate your Brides colours.

Here are three great ways to select the perfect palette:

 

His and Hers

Planning your Brides can be as easy as asking, "What's your favourite colour?" For a ceremony that's unique to you as a couple, centre your décor around the bride's and groom's favourite colours.

If your picks seem to clash, go with a slightly different hue or shade. For example, if purple and green are your colours, lilac flowers and green leaves would look lovely. Blue and red might include white as balance while purple and red could be blended using natural objects like roses.

If you and your fiancé share a favourite colour, use multiple light and dark shades and mix in some neutrals.

  By Time

The season of your Brides can help you decide on a design. For example, a spring Brides might have soft pastels and crisp whites. In the summer, go with sunny yellow, ocean blue, or mint. Autumn produces a splendour of colours, so pick from red, gold, yellow, brown, green, and orange. Wintertime may seem drab and grey, but blue crystals, black and white patterns, and deep red roses bring out the best of the season.

Time of day can also guide you. Bright, cheery colours like yellow, spring green, and sky blue look great in the morning. For afternoon Bridess, go with a bold and bright variety. In the evening, choose more classy, formal colours like crimson, black, or gold.

   

 

 

By Location

Your Brides day is one of the most important days of your life, and the colour scheme is one of the most important details. By following this advice, you can fall in love with the perfect Brides colours.

The venue you choose can affect the tone and aesthetic of your Brides. If you're getting married in a cathedral, mansion or elaborate indoor space, then rich dark colours and elegant gems will match the atmosphere. An intimate ceremony in a small chapel might call for softer pastels and spring or summer colours. 

For outdoor weddins, take inspiration from the world around you. Beach Bridess could use aqua blue and coral, while a mountain Brides could use forest green and brown. A country Bridess looks great with rustic neutrals and few pops of bright colour. You don't have to limit yourself to the obvious, but whatever palette you choose, find a way to tie it in with the location.

Location Matters: How to Choose a Venue That Perfectly Fits Your Brides Theme

If you are one of the millions of brides currently planning their dream nuptials, you are most likely overwhelmed with all the tasks. From choosing the photographer and Brides dress to the catering and bridesmaids, most brides will easily be stressed. You want everything to be perfect, and if you've chosen a theme for your Brides, your likely concerned with making sure every last detail fits with the theme. Perhaps you've centred your theme around a specific colour scheme, modelled it after your favourite movie, or just picked a theme that reflects the interests of you and your fiancé.

When it comes to finding the perfect venue for your Brides, it can get tough to find a location for a reasonable price, that's not too far away, and that goes along with your theme. Here are a few ideas for types of locations you can look into depending on what type of theme you've picked for the Brides.

Rustic

If you've landed on a rustic theme, choosing an outdoor venue will really help you complete the vision you have for your Brides. Many brides will opt for a wooded area for their Brides ceremony and reception. It may seem like an outdoor Brides will require a lot of work when it comes to decorating, but remember that trees, grass, and fields provide a picturesque backdrop that requires no work—it's already there! Depending on where you live, an old, historical barn could be the perfect venue for your outdoor Brides. You can string twinkle lights from the rafters, and likely fit all of your guests in if you want to do the ceremony in the barn. Brides experts who run reception venues near Atlanta suggest brides can use hay bales covered in quilts for seating, and mason jars with daisies for centrepieces. A rustic-themed Brides is simple, so once you find the perfect spot in the mountains, on a ranch, or near a field, you won't have to do much work to get the country vibe flowing.

Circus or Fair Theme

Another popular theme recently is the whimsical theme of a circus or county fair. These Bridess use fun colors and patterns, and allow brides to serve creative foods like popcorn, cotton candy, or soft pretzels. If you choose this theme, you want to think big for your venue. Find a place that has plenty of space—whether it's inside or outside. Make sure there is enough room to set up a photo booth, a popcorn machine, and perhaps even having a face-painting station or booths for games if you truly want to turn the reception into a real fair. Depending on where you live, you might be able to find a park in your city that has an old carousel or Ferris wheel, which will truly complete the circus feeling. Brides who choose this theme have used big, bright balloons and large, striped umbrellas for décor. Remember, if you're planning a circus Brides, you'll need to “think big” for everything!

 

 

Nautical

Many brides who live near a dock or beach opt for a nautical theme for their Brides. If you want to get married during the cooler months, you can choose a country club or venue that sits seaside or lakeside so that your guests will have the chance to look out on the water. Having your ceremony on the beach will allow you to have a more casual Brides if that is what you are going for. If you really want to complete the nautical theme, you might consider renting out a ferry boat or yacht for the night. If you have a small group, you could even launch the boat and take to the sea for your after-marriage celebration. If you plan to have a large group, staying docked is the safest idea so that people can come and go as they please. Brides using a nautical theme often focus on using navy or red colors in their décor, and even use seashell collections or jars of sand for centerpieces. Let your guests take part in the theme by providing a photo booth or photo backdrop where they can dress as sailors or pirates and take pictures. Like the outdoor Brides, having a body of water and the sunset as your backdrop for your Brides will take out a lot of the work for you—it provides you with natural décor.

 

Fairy Tale

Every bride wants her Brides to feel like a fairytale, however you can truly create the feel of “happily ever after” at your Brides by fully embracing the fairytale theme. You've already found your prince, you've bought a big, flowing princess dress, and now you just need the perfect place to celebrate your happily ever after. Many brides who choose the fairytale theme have held their Brides in a green park, or spacious field so that they can set up large tents under which guests will eat, dance, and celebrate. If you can find a venue that has a gazebo, you can cover the structure with lights and flowers and use it in the ceremony—what could be more romantic than that? You might consider having your Brides at a country club that has a pond with swans or ducklings. This backdrop coupled with some twinkle lights and hanging lanterns will make the atmosphere picturesque and it will truly look like something you read in a bedtime story. If you're getting married during a month that is too cold for an outdoor Brides, you can still achieve the fairytale theme by finding a beautiful family church for the ceremony, and taking your reception to a hotel ballroom. You'll truly be completing the fairytale theme when you and your new husband take to the dance floor, like a real king and queen at the ball.

 

 

 

 

You've been dreaming of this day since you were a little girl, so it's no mystery why you want your Brides to be absolutely perfect. If you have a vision in your head of the type of Brides you'd like to have, you can still achieve your “dream Brides” while staying within your budget and sticking to the theme you have in mind. Choosing outdoor venues often costs less money, especially if you have the reception on the property of a close friend or family member. Once you settle on the theme of your Brides, think about what type of venue that fits best with the theme, and that also fits your personality. This is your Brides—you don't have to get married in a fancy church. You can get married on the beach in your bare feet. If you choose a theme and venue that fits the personalities of you and your future spouse, you'll easily be able to pull together the vision you have for your dream Brides.

Choosing a Brides Theme – Things to consider and ways to highlight.

As you begin your Brides planning, you may be bombarded with images suggesting themes for Bridess. Things like vintage, rustic, art nouveau, country, hipster, are all popular ways to categorize themes for Bridess. It can be tough to choose the right theme for your nuptials. There are a few things to consider as you and your sweetie start to dive into the details.

The big three factors that can affect your theme choices

Venue – The venue has a huge impact on a Brides’s theme. If you get married in a place that is a dark, gothic space light pastels and whimsical accents would be out of place. Similarly, if you choose a charming garden as your venue edgy décor wouldn’t be a good fit. Therefore, you must consider tailoring your theme to your venue or finding a venue that fits your theme.

Cultural Traditions– Bridess are a particularly special time to honor cultural traditions. Such traditions can affect the style of ceremony, décor, food and color palette. It’s important for you and your partner to decide which traditions you’d like to include.

Season – The season your Brides day falls in is also a determining factor for your theme. Certain flowers and even foods may be out of season and it will also affect venue choices if your area is subject to seasonal weather extremes.

Other weighing factors

Personal Style– Your Brides theme should be a reflection of you as a couple. It’s important to bring your own personal style to aspects of your Brides. If you are laid back couple who enjoys the outdoors you don’t want to choose a venue that is formal and rigid. If you are a couple who enjoys the finer things in life, your theme should highlight that. 

Budget – This may belong in the top category for some but budget doesn’t have to play a huge role in a choosing a Brides theme. Just make sure your plans to don’t get bigger than your budget. Choose the things you won’t compromise on and choose the ones you will compromise. If you are on a budget, you will have to compromise at some point so it is better to be prepared instead of surprised by something you may need to rethink.

Local Resources– Choosing local resources is kind of a trend right now – which is great. This can impact food and flower choices as well as venue options. Make sure what you want is available before you get your heart set on it.

Ways to highlight your theme

Invitation/stationary - Sending out your Brides invitations is the first little peek guests can get at your Brides. Incorporating the theme of the Brides just creates a beautiful cohesiveness. Many invitation services offer coordinating Brides invitation sets where you can customize your Brides invitations, programs, menus, thank you cards and more all in the same design theme.

Décor/Flowers – Flowers probably provide the easiest way to highlight your theme. Whether your theme is vintage or modern; flowers are a beautiful way to enhance the décor and set the tone. Other décor things to consider: lighting and linens.

Color of bridal party ensembles - Choose colors that will support your theme. Accents of color in bouquets and boutonnieres can all contribute to a cohesive look.

Food – This is a fun way to enhance any unique cultural aspects of a Brides. Serve up traditional favorites and be sure to create a menu that fits well with the venue. A formal sit down dinner isn’t going to work well in an informal venue.

Drink – Signature cocktails are a fun and inexpensive way to go. That way you aren’t hosting a full bar! Even if you just name it something fun, you can use this as an opportunity to tie in your theme. Whether you serve it in mason jars or champagne flutes, just make sure it falls in line with the style you’ve established.

It’s easy to be overwhelmed when choosing a style and theme but you don’t have to be! Choose something that feels right to both of you. Remember that this is your day to celebrate your love. Take input from family and friends in stride. At the end of the day, it’s your Brides so just be who you are.

4 Tips for organising a Fall Brides

4 ways to celebrate the bounties of fall on your special day

The summer Brides season is nearing its end to make way for a bevy of fall brides. And I say good riddance! I got married in the fall because I love this season most of all. Why? Well when you consider that summer was dang hot, winter is too cold, and spring is too unpredictably wet, fall Bridess provide a colorfully perfect canvas for a romantic Brides that screams new beginnings ahead.

In fall the leaves are not only beautiful hues of orange, yellow, and red—the air is also crisp for dressing your best without being uncomfortable—so the idea of an outdoor Brides or reception like I had is bountiful when you consider nature’s great backdrops to mark your special day. 

Here are my four tips for organizing a beautiful fall Brides. 

1. Fall Brides dresses

I admit; I chose fall for my Brides mostly because I fell in love with the styles for fall. And when you take a gander at the 2013 styles of Brides dresses and bridesmaid’s dresses, you will be swept away by the rich fabrics and colors available to you. I went with a classic A-line Brides gown in a rich cream color with burnt orange details (i.e., a sash that tied into a bow at the back of the dress and hair flowers). My bridesmaids wore back gowns with coordinated sashes of yellow, orange, and red, which was breathtaking against the outdoor ceremony location. 

2. Try on a fall themed Brides
In fall Brides themes are abundant! Just think of giving thanks for your love at a Thanksgiving themed Brides or incorporating costumes into a Halloween themed Brides. Of course your Brides décor, floral decorations, table centerpieces, and Brides favors can all suit your theme for a consistency. Think horns of plenty stuffed with autumn fruits for centerpieces or mini Halloween treat bags as Brides favors.

3. Brides décor

For my own fall Brides, I borrowed from the season’s colors, which are rich and vibrant. I incorporated dried straw, corn husks, dried flowers, and fat gourds into my color spectrum. Out Brides reception was outside, and we created a dance floor with bales of hay surrounding the perimeter with colorful pumpkins and odd shaped gourds on top of each one.

4. Fall food a plenty

My own fall Brides menu really took a chunk out of the season’s bountiful food provisions. I recommend you do the same if you’re concerned with sourcing locally. We started out Brides menu off with a thick squash soup, followed by a zucchini and apple salad, for dinner was a stuffed pumpkin ravioli covered in crisp pecans, and for desert we ditched the traditional Brides cake for serve yourself pumpkin pie and apple crisp.

Bahamas 16 Islands Brides Invitation, Brides No 4: Jade & Michail's Nautical Love Knot Brides

Most brides hire a nice vintage car to bring to them to the church, but for Jade Chin and Mikhail Tokarczyk of London, a jet ski and speed boat was the vehicle of choice! It brought them to a catamaran anchored off The Berry Islands, where they said their vows surrounded by crystalline turquoise sea.

Jade, a finance programme manager and Mikhail, a media professional, are another of the 16 lucky couples that won the 16 Islands Brides Invitation. Upon being told of their dream Brides arrangements, Mikhail said, “Really it is about spending time with a few close friends and family in an incredible location and getting married surrounded by crystal clear water.”
Close friends and family waited with bated breath for the arrival of the bride and groom on “The Dancing Bear” where their very special ceremony took place.

The Berry Islands consist of a cluster of 30 cays, dozens which are uninhabited and have miles of secluded sugar-white beaches and invigorating dive sites. These Islands are amongst the best fishing grounds in the world.  Mamma Rhoda Rock, a shallow coral reef only 16 feet deep is rich with sea life including crawfish and moray eels.

Jade and Mikhail and their two witnesses stayed at the stylish boutique hotel CarriEarl, The Berry Islands, with some 16 or more extra guests also at the hotel and around the island.

We wish Jade and Mikhail a long and loving life together! 

Monday we will return to dry land for a "Seaside Serenade" with Grazina Zaveckaite and Ruslanas Nekipelovas of Edinburgh.

Bahamas 16 Islands Brides Invitation, Brides No. 2: Mary & James' Enchanted Brides Under the Sea!

Mary Gleeson and James Potter of Whitfield, Dover, toyed with the idea of a Brides ceremony on the ocean floor. Pretty unconventional but probably not surprising for a diving instructor! This idea materialised when the adventurous couple won the 16 islands Brides invitation. Upon being told of their dream Brides arrangements, James said ““Having got engaged in the most unromantic of places (our lounge) whilst suffering from thrombosis in 2006, I couldn't be more thrilled to finally have the opportunity to marry Mary - not only in The Bahamas but in our favourite place - underwater!”

Little did they realise that they would have an “Enchanted Encounter”  while saying “I do”. Watch the video below to see this beautiful and unique ceremony, featuring some Atlantic Bottle Nosed Dolphins in attendance- the definition of destination Brides with a difference!

Mary, James and their two guests stayed at the Grand Lucayan, Grand Bahama Island, where they also celebrated their underwater nuptial with some colourful land based celebrations!

The Grand Bahama Island is the fifth largest island in the Bahamas and is only 56 miles from Florida. It is surrounded by shallow coral reefs which inahbits a vast variety of marine life making it ideal for diving and snorkelling. It is no wonder that the island was chosen as the back drop to the Bond film "Never Say Never Again"!

Congratulations Mary and James!Tomorrow we will continue our journey round the Islands of the Bahamas where Joanna Wicenciak and Peter Dennis of Scunthorpe will say "I do" on the "Top of the World".
