The Year of Color

Gown by Stella de Libero / As Seen on Wedding Inspirasi
Three years ago when we created our blog, one of our first few posts already rallied to go for colored gowns. To be more specific, we entitled the entry "Anti-White" and it was our 9th post in the blog. This has always been one of our "propaganda movements."

Over the past few years since that post, we've been so overjoyed to see the same battle cry from fashion heavyweights the likes of Vera Wang. So when the folks over at Simply Bridal shared with us their 2014 Fearless Forecast, we couldn't be happier. According to Simply Bridal, they predict that 2014 is DEFINITELY the year for colored gowns. So in support of their forecast, we've scoured the web to also give you sample gowns based on their forecast. Enjoy! :)

Simply Bridal says: 2014 is the year of going against the grain with weddings, especially when it comes to color! Instead of traditional white wedding gowns, brides will select colored gowns to show off their unique style and personality. Here's some of the hottest hues for wedding dresses and what they say about you:

"THE LITTLE WHITE LIE"

If you are a regular RB reader, you know by now that the belief embedded in our society that white is the traditional color of gowns since time and immemorial is one of the BIGGEST FATTEST LIES to date. But in case you haven't read our feature on this yet, VISIT: THE LITTLE WHITE LIE

So what now rebels? Are you finally ready to take the big leap towards colored gowns? Always remember that this is NOT about following the latest trends in weddings. It's about staying true to yourself especially if deep down inside you've always wanted to wear a colored gown on your wedding day. Based on this helpful infographic shared by Simply Bridal, which color/personality do you think best suits you? :)

Bride on Fire

Photography by Pat Dy

When RB Mica blogged about Vera Wang's Red Bridal Collection, we have since been hoping that a real bride would have the guts to wear one. And here we are at last. When photographer extraordinaire Pat Dy shared this on Instagram, we knew we had to have this on the blog. But it's not just the bridal gown that was on fire, really. It was in the couple's embraces, their stolen moments, and in their wickedly New York wedding.

As written on Pat Dy's blog, he shares:

Having shot hundreds of wedding dresses mostly white, a pink dress , a star wars dress, a few blacks, a DIY gown. I never thought i would be shooting a beautiful Red Vera Wang Dress worn by my bride Hsiao. Her awesome character, loving husband and a New york setting made her theme stand out even more. They love pictures and I took a lot, it was wasy…They showed me their love and effortless energy making that day even more awesome!……..xoxoxo

Vera Wang Says, "Think Pink"

"Pink as sensual, pink as seductive, pink as dreamy, pink as sophisticated, pink as strong, pink as cool. Think pink!" - www.verawang.com

When we started the blog a few years back, we were so excited that it coincided with Vera Wang's Gray/Black Bridal Collection. Then last year, she set everything on fire with her Red Bridal Collection. Then a few months back, her Punk Rock Bridal Collection. And here she is again, snubbing white, this time in favor of Pink. (Sidenote: I can't help but be proud though, that even before this "trend", I wore a Tadashi pink gown in our church wedding way back in 2011).

Inspired by Audrey Hepburn's "Funny Face", "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", and even Mr. Christian Dior himself, Vera Wang says that pink flatters every body and skin type and she showcased her POV in different shades from peony to coral. *Swoon*

Which one is you fave? It's sooooo hard to choose, right? Now dreaming of fitting all of them! And here's one final look on Vera Wang's collection as featured by ABC:

Pia + Shuni's Shabby Chic & Mask Fair Wedding

Photography by We Do It For Love

As I was looking through Pia and Shuni's wedding photos, I was immediately taken and impressed by how unique their wedding details were. They actually call their theme shabby chic--but as you will see in this feature, they managed to create such an uncommon interpretation to an otherwise common theme. The wedding felt fun, playful, whimsical, magical, imaginative, and nostalgic as if it were a children's book made to come alive. At the same time, the couple made the whole wedding festivities feel like a private mask fair with many interactive ideas and decorations. Just goes to show that there's still MORE to shabby chic than meets the eye and it's so much fun to create your own wedding rules!

Pia & Shuni definitely knew how to curate and edit old ideas from new ones and the result of which is a wedding that we've never seen before! This is definitely one of the most charming rebellious weddings we've seen so far this year :)

Congratulations Pia and Shuni! And may your marriage be as inspiring and magical as your wedding!
