11 Awesome DIY Brides Craft Ideas

Ask anyone and they’ll tell you that the best place to go for quick craft ideas is Pinterest.  People are constantly uploading new ideas that can make your life not only easier but also more fun.  The same goes for Brides day craft ideas.  Below are a few ideas that you can consider incorporating into your special day to make it a little more unique and a little more you.

- Have your Brides date stitched onto the inner seam at the bottom of your Brides gown.

- Post childhood photos of you and your spouse-to-be on the corresponding restroom doors of the reception hall (i.e. if you are the bride, post your picture on the “Ladies’” door, while your groom can post his picture on the “Men’s”.

- Have your guests welcome you after the ceremony with lit sparklers instead of rice or bubbles – you can even have the packs that they come in personalized!

- Use cute little fact sheets as your centerpieces for each table, including little-known facts about you and your groom.

- For after the ceremony, cascade square canvases with your Brides photos down a long, thick ribbon for beautiful wall art that will quickly become a conversation piece.

 - Hang pictures in frames along the corresponding side of seats with pictures of the both of you while you were growing up.  There can be chronological pictures of the bride along her side and the groom along his.

- For a great favor that is also useful, have your new last name and the date of your Brides stamped onto the center of wooden hangers just below the hook.

- Place pictures of yourself and your fiancĂ©e at each corresponding table number’s setting.  For example, for Table 3, place a picture of both of you at the age of three in the placeholder.

- Throw out the seating plan, and save yourself the stress.  There are some cute signs with neat sayings on them like this one that encourage folks to sit where they are comfortable.  After all, you’re all about to become one large family anyway!

- Take a photo of both of you reaching a hand out to each other.  Punch a hole in the photo where your hands meet, and stick a lollipop through the hole (or whatever else you may wish) to create adorable favours.

 - Create a bunting with paper cut outs of anything you like (birds, cars, Hello Kitty, what have you), and have the guests sign the cut-outs instead of an address book.

The ideas are limitless as to how you can personalize your event to make it unlike any other Brides your guests have ever attended.  You can make it as formal or as informal as you want.  Check back to Pinterest often for more ideas on how to make your magical day even more memorable.

How to plan the head {top} table at your Brides.

A seating chart at your actual Brides ceremony isn’t always necessary, traditionally all of the members attending in support of the bride sit on one side and the members attending to support the groom are on the other side. Many couples have chosen to abandon this tradition, as they believe that though their union, everyone is family so there shouldn’t be a seating plan.

Now, putting together a seating arrangement for the reception is a whole other ball game. Does the happily married couple prefer a sweetheart table, or would they rather be surrounded by their bridal party, or their family? Any of the following options is acceptable, but which one is right for your friends and family?

Top tips to get your Brides guests mingling!

Brides days are stressful enough without having to worry about whether your guests are having a good time or if they are getting on with one another. Why not prepare yourself using these top mingling tips so that it is not something that you will have to fret about at all!

  1. Be strategic with your table plans! – It is always very hard to know who to seat with who at Bridess. The best way to tackle this is have a 50/50 ratio of knowing each other at the table but also consider common interests and age groups as they are most important.

  1. Circular tables only please! – If available at your venue, always opt for circular tables with a maximum of 10 guests. This is far more sociable and encourages much more mingling than square tables where guests will speak to people in front and either side only.

  1. Escort cards – Use escort cards for guests to find their way to their tables rather than lists of names. Whilst finding their names, guests will interact with each other.

  1. Favours – Place favours in a central location rather than on individual place settings. You could also encourage guests to take someone else’s favour (if they are named) and go and try to find that person.

  1. Brides badges – Name badges (comical or not) are a great way of guests knowing how each person knows the bride and groom. Check out cafepress.com for a great selection of quirky name badges.

    1. The smoking area – Approximately 30% - 50% of your guests will smoke, if you’re at an Irish Brides. I found at a Brides I was at a few years ago the smoking area was so far away from the reception room it segregated the guests and the smokers missed the great songs and dances. When checking out venues see where the smoking area is located to perhaps avoid this problem.

    1. Get dancing! – Kick of the evening disco with songs that have an accompanying dance that everyone knows very well and encourage guests to take part. E.g. Tragedy by Steps, the Macarena, Stop by the Spice Girls.

    1. Trivia Quiz – Have a short trivia quiz on each table with questions about the bride and groom that all the guests at the table can take part in.

    1. Photographs – Arrange a collage of photos or hang photos off string with pegs in the garden area (if there is one) or in the drinks reception area of the bride and groom and family and friends. This will definitely encourage chatting and laughter.

    1. Musical Chairs – Each table is to play musical chairs during the reception. Every other guest should move one place to the left after each course so that everyone gets a chance to talk to one another. This will also get funnier as more drinks have been had!

    1. Guestbook – Chose an alternate guestbook idea such as writing on pieces of Jenga or on a monopoly board. If a lot of your guests are from abroad, choose a map option where guests can pin where they are from and write a message.

    1. Photo booths – Photo booths at Bridess are not only a lot of fun but as the night goes on and people get to know each other better you never know what mix of friends and family you may having taking snaps together.

    1. Name settings – Place a funny or interesting fact about each guest inside their neighbours name card and encourage each guest to read them out.

Of course you can't force your guests to mingle, people will undoubtedly talk to the people they know the best. However using some of the ideas above could result in new friendships, new romances or just an all round good time at your Brides!
