A Smurfy Prenup

Photography, Styling, and 3D Animation
by Visionary Photography Hub

Today we are in the mood to take things to a more whimsical and happily rebellious level. A Smurfy one at that! Visionary Photography Hub is already the top-of-mind when it comes to photo sets that are on the kick-ass edited side. But when it's the couples who actually come up to them and say--hey we want a Smurfy Prenup, then you have a match made in heaven right there. We are just totally amused and quite impressed with how Jassen & Denise can have such cute sense of humor! And there's no other way to describe this prenup other than the fact that they wanted the Smurfs to be part of their engagement session. Smurftastic!

Hooray for Jassen & Denise! We can only imagine how fun your marriage will be! Cheers to you both! :)

Photographer Jervy Santiago shares: Denise and Jassen’s concept of fun was a total break of our leg. They wanted the smurfs to be part of their world. The real shooting was not a problem at all; the nerve breaker was the 3D animated design of the smurfs that we’d glue in their engagement pictorial.

Ace & Karla's Coach Potato/Harry Potter Prenup

They had me at Hogwarts.

Photography Jervy Santiago / Visionary Photography Hub

When Visionary Photography Hub creative director Mike "Nico" Lavarez emailed us this prenup with the words, Hogwarts in the paragraph, I didn't have to think twice. This was definitely going to the blog. Haha!

Coach potatoes at heart, Ace & Karla wanted a prenup shoot that starred their favorite coach and the characters that they have both grown fond of during movie marathons with the beloved coach.

Visionary Photography Hub shares:

Ace & Karla had no time to go on an on-location shoot - what more if the destination is at Hogwarts! You read it right! They also had a lot of ideas for the shoot and what better way to execute this than putting them in their own dream sequence.

Weekends are spent at home in their favorite couch resting, playing on the laptop, reading books or doing a DVD marathon. Being kids at heart with almost no time for play the couple wanted something that reminded them of the interesting characters they “spend time with” during their free time – including the couch....

...everyone sure did enjoy the broomstick ride care of Harry & his friends! Being long-anticipated, the pictorial was a sweet family affair for Ace & Karla, with their parents providing the costumes & a ride for their most beloved co-star – their favorite couch!

The Left 4 Dead Trash the Dress Session

Being a non-conformist, the Rebellious Bride is a disciple of individualism.

The Visionary Photography Hub on their definition of the Rebellious Bride

Photography by Jervy Santiago for The Visionary Photography Hub

Inspired by the game Left for Dead, Ingle and Aimee commissioned The Visionary Photography Hub team to make their outrageous trash the dress/post-nup concept a reality. And yes folks, the creative guys over at Visionary are the same rebellious guys who brought us the Archie Comics Prenup.

Rebellious Brides: Who came up with the overall concept? Was it a collaboration w/ the couple? Did you guys brainstorm?

Nico Lavarez (Creative Director of VPH): It definitely was. We at Visionary are known for our crazy, no-compromise pictorials. But of course we make sure that every single detail has been approved by the client. Also, each concept is a project that feeds off from the couple's characters & personal ideas. We make sure that what we offer still embodies their personality because otherwise everything will come out half-baked. For Ingle & Aimee they loved the outcome because it reflected who they are as partners - fun, individualistic & always game.

RB: Obviously the couple was willing to push the envelope so how did you react the first time you knew they wanted something rebellious such as this? How was it like working with them?

Nico: What the others can't do, we can. We feel so blessed that we're given clients who also like to think out of the box. During Ingle & Aimee's shoot, the energy was so amped up, everyone was more than eager to get the layouts perfect. We even hired Parkour trainers to play the part of the aggressive zombies and an awesome team of prosthetic artists to help bring them to "life".

RB: Who designed the bride's gown and how trashed did it get? :)

Nico: The bride's gown was a hand-me-down. It came to use when we were hoarding her closet for stuff to use at the shoot. She never had the chance to wear it before hence its "trash" state, but it obviously got trashed for real after our team made a little project out of it. After a slew of stitches, tucking & draping here and there, a little tattering plus a few mud splats, the dress looked like it kicked-off a whole bunch of zombie ass!

Without over-thinking your answer, what trash session would you wanna do? And let's veer away from the "wet look" already, shall we? :)

Special thanks to Nico for sharing this with us! Calling all rebellious wedding artists! Email us your own submissions at: rebellious.bride@gmail.com
