Once the engagement hype is all over and it’s time to sit down and really start planning your Brides it’s important to know what to do when. There are some things that need to be booked at the start and others can be left till the end. Following a Brides timeline is a great idea, it aids organisation, de-stresses you as a couple and you can keep up to date with what you have done and what you have yet to do. Here is an example of a timeline that we would use a Brides planners!
At the beginning
- Have an engagement party or make an engagement announcement
- Consider what your Brides budget will be
- Compile your rough guest list
- Research and visit venues and churches
10-12 months beforehand
- Choose a venue and church, now you will have your Brides date
- Decide on your bridal party members
- Research music for your Brides (ceremony, drinks reception, band and DJ)
- Attend music showcases if desired and book your music
- Research & book photographers and videographers
- Do some research on your honeymoon
- Send save the date cards
- Research florists and transportation
- Begin visiting bridal stores
-Research and consider Brides insurance
6-9 months beforehand
- Research bakers, visit and choose style of cake. Book your baker
- Order the Brides dress
- Order bridesmaid dresses
- Visit your chosen florist to discuss flowers and pay deposit with them
- Book honeymoon
- Book transportation
- Book pre marriage course
- Set up a Brides registry (if you are having one)
- Research and order stationary
- Research rings
- Reseach and book hair and make –up (don’t forget mothers as well). Book trials
- Research any additional décor not provided by the venue
4-5 months beforehand
- Research flowergirl & pageboy outfits (bear in mind sizes as they grow very fast)
- Decide on a shop for hire/buy for groomsmen
- Choose and order your favours
- Purchase rings (any engravements to be done now)
- Sort out accommodation for your guests block booking at your venue or research local hotels/bnb’s
- Choose readings for your ceremony
- Purchase all bridal and bridesmaid accessories
- Prepare order of service for mass booklets and place printing order
- Give notice to registrar/church
- Organise legalities and paperwork
3 months beforehand
- Finalise guest list and send invites
- Attend menu tasting and cake tasting
- Book ceremony rehearsal
- Attend dress fittings
- Book any pre Brides appointments
2 months beforehand
- Attend dance lessons (if you are doing them)
- Shop for your going away outfit and honeymoon clothes
- Purchase gifts for your bridal party
- Purchase any ceremony/reception accessories (e.g. candles)
6 weeks beforehand
- Further dress fittings
- Further suit fittings
- Order any extra alcohol/food required (perhaps for day after)
- Confirm with all your suppliers
- Meet with officiant
- Have pre Brides haircut
1 week beforehand
- Groom to have haircut
- Final bridal fitting
- Prepare envelopes for your suppliers
- Finalise the Brides day itinerary with the bridal party
- Finalise seating chart
- Pack for honeymoon
Day before
- Rehearsal & rehersal dinner
- Attend beauty appointments
- Transport dresses and accessories to getting ready location
- Deliver placecards, favors and escort cards to the venue
After the Brides
- Get the Brides dress and accessories dry cleaned
- Change the bride’s name
- Send thank you cards to your guests within three months
- Send thank you cards to your suppliers
