All-White Mardi Gras

There's something about Poveda's graduating batch of 2014 that makes you feel like you can expect great, rebellious things from the girls (and perhaps their parents? *wink*). After all, if their prom last year and their ball this year are any indication, then this batch is definitely on to exciting times ahead.

We once presented a mardi gras wedding concept to a client. Alas, the couple didn't pick that concept. So when we found out about Poveda's grad ball theme, we felt quite giddy about it. Gideon Hermosa, Jason Magbanua, Oly Ruiz, Madge Lejano...and for the best dressed, you have Veluz and what more can you expect? I can't wait to see the video.

Congratulations, ladies! We can't wait to see what you'll come up with for your debuts and weddings! And have a blast at college--for this is just the beginning ;)

Swept Away

With our own Palawan plans cancelled, and not to mention being stuck in Manila with loads of work to do, one can only dream to escape and be swept away. What makes me feel even more worse than I already am, is the fact that this is the only year in the last 10 consecutive years that I have no Boracay trip scheduled.  So thank you for this beautiful set, Oly. At least we can have this in the blog. To dream of days like Marki and Gun's breathtaking engagement session.

Oly writes in his blog:

"Sometimes there are things that are just innately beautiful you can’t help but just be swept away. Now when these natural charms are present in both the subject and the location, there is no reason why it shouldn't be special. And that’s what we bring you today, the stunning pre-wedding shoot of Marki and Gun (yes, Gun like the gun – because he’s macho like that) in no less than El Nido Palawan.

For a knockout to happen is no easy feat. Luck, cost, and a lot of handwork are the staple. But in Metrophoto, we seem fortunate enough to experience it often and Marki and Gun’s shoot are easily a standout. Palawan is one of the most breathtaking provinces in the Philippines and El Nido is one of main reasons that it is. The place is jaw-droppingly beautiful, in a league of its own. I’ve been to many many beautiful places and still El Nido has charmed like no other. And to have the opportunity to not just experience it but also photograph it is just unbelievable."

Marki also, I should just say, is a very gorgeous bride, one that can easily match up to the marvel of El Nido. She and Gun, effortlessly fused with the island to create brilliance. It was an experience I immensely enjoyed and will never forget. Special thanks to my team and to Cherry Pacheco for Marki’s make-up. Please, enjoy the photos.

M by Metrophoto (Part 2)

Let me start by saying, "I hate you, Oly Ruiz!" Because now I badly wish we had an e-magazine for our wedding two years ago. Now, I really, really want an app that includes all the details of our wedding! After all, M can also be for Mica & Marc. But enough sour-graping and on to the good stuff. I loooove this app! It's a major mega upgrade to the usual wedding album. I have to agree with Oly, yes, this is the next big thing. This is truly a first and a great tool to immortalize a couple's big day.

For those of you who want to see an issue minus the downloading, let me show you a walkthrough. The e-mag is best viewed using a tablet, by the way. Here are some screen caps of what's inside M by Metrophoto.

After making my daughter sleep, time for some downloading!

Look at the new addition to my newsstand!

The cover looks very sleek & clean :)
They also have an ongoing promo! Of which I will join! Hehe!

Click below for more of their digital pages BUT you have to download to enjoy the actions ;)

E-mags are definitely more exciting & interactive :)

Laid out pretty much like a fashion magazine :)

The featured bride is on the spotlight

You can scroll down to view more photos on the app!

Your vide can even be included!

I hope I get another Metrophoto bride so that The Makeup of Mica will be featured here!

An awesome addition to their services!

Would you want a magazine for your wedding?
Then you know who to stalk/find. Awesome job, Metrophoto!

M by Metrophoto (Part 1 of 2)

M by Metrophoto (interactive digital magazine) from Derek Yee on Vimeo.

Let me start this feature by saying that I have never actually met Oly of Metrophoto formally in person. The first time I was exposed to his actual work was when I attended the wedding of one of my hubb's best buddies. We were still just engaged at that time so it was "pre-rebellious brides days". But when we saw his onsite slideshow, we were so impressed to the point that I wanted to introduce myself during that wedding (I'm just dorky that way), but then---what would I say, really? Haha! So I didn't. What my husband and I did though, was whisper from afar and say "Ayan yata si Oly yung photographer--oo, parang nakita ko na siya sa ginawang video ni Jason. Galing niya ha! Bakit di natin na-consider when we were choosing photogs?!?"

I have since observed his talent quietly. From my own FB newsfeeds I'd see other friends get tagged on his many creative marketing ideas for Metrophoto, and I'd think to myself, "Wow this guy really knows how to do his IMC! (Integrated Marketing Communications)". When we already had the blog, his former brides started submitting their wedding photos, then when we introduced "Random Rebellion", the first-ever feature of that was a Metrophoto work. Eventually the tipping point however was his first-ever Lesbian prenup, and at that moment I just really felt like a formal intro was too overdue already so I asked Jason M. to make the proper endorsement. The rest you could say is history because if you are a regular RB reader, you'd know that Metrophoto is a continuing highlight on the blog. We still haven't met personally haha. But let me just say, we soon will--in a big, big way *wink*.

Metrofied 4 Life from Jason Magbanua on Vimeo.

Just some of my favorite campaigns and innovations that he's done: 1) His green movement when he introduced the concept of the USB instead of DVD files, 2) Then there was "Metrofied 4 Life" where he chose two couples to tattoo his M logo on them to be his brand ambassadors for the rest of their lives, 3) Then he created the whole concept of the "Metrophoto Bride" and what sets them apart, 4) Then it was the subtle hashtags on his photos that would say #UnlikeAnyOther or #OnlyTheBest to the point that he's become the top-of-mind for these tags. 5) And here he is again, offering something that's never-been-done before with the M by Metrophoto App.

This feature covers my personal admiration for Metrophoto, and an introduction to his new revolutionary, first-in-the-world foray into online magazines in replace of, or to complement the concept of the wedding album. But since we want our feature to be special and extensive, there's going to be a part 2 as written by RB Mica, this time on her own user experience with the app.

But don't wait for our other feature before actually downloading the app of course! It is free, and so are the issues so go ahead and read through it by searching "M by Metrophoto" on your Apple App Store or on Google Play. You can also check out the mobile site HERE for more details :)

Let me just end this feature by saying that I will always be a Metrophoto Fan and I admire how Oly has since evolved his craft and service as his own. In a plethora of wedding photographers, you know that there's only a handful that leads the pack. And even in that pack, he has come to really set himself apart--not just through the name, not just through the work, but by revolutionizing the craft in the global scheme of things, and more importantly by making his couples feel oh so very special in a very eternally unique way. So congratulations to M by Metrophoto, Oly! And we can't wait to devour the photos and the words from each issue :)

XOXO,
Kai

Flora & Raf's Eco Chic Boracay Wedding

Photography by Metrophoto

Boracay weddings will always be my fave. While all Boracay weddings are unique, there are some elements that are naturally more popular and will end up the same. For instance, turquoise color palettes or fun summer shades are common choices--not that there's anything wrong with that (my own wedding had those colors too). But once in awhile we see Boracay brides who are bold enough to experiment with other ideas that also work so beautifully well. Except for the famous Boracay waters itself, there are no turquoise details in Flora & Raf's wedding. Just the most magical emerald hues, teals, and greens that make for an eco chic look. Of course, this is just but one aspect of the wedding. Overall it was a laidback and organically love-filled union that is as awe-inspiring as the island itself.

While looking through the photos, I came across the bride's own comment about choosing Metrophoto as their photographer and I'd like to share that here as well:

"Oly and the Metrophoto Team,

I must admit that, when Raffy and I began planning our wedding, photos were not at the top of our priority list. However, we soon realized that we needed the assistance of very capable people to chronicle what would be one of the highlights of our lives. Fortunately, someone recommended Metrophoto, which proved to be, in our opinion, the best photography team — truly one of the most enlightened decisions we made, aside from getting married. :) The pictures genuinely captured not only the events and mood of the day, but also how it really meant to us. The first time we saw them, and each time we looked at them since, we were faithfully reminded of our wedding, especially the happiness and excitement we felt. To top it all off, everyone at Metrophoto was easy and fun to work with, which made Raffy and I more comfortable with the process.

So, thank you so so much for your talent, effort and company. Your hard work and genius have exceeded all of our expectations, leaving us eternally in awe. And I, especially, will forever be grateful, because everything still feels like a whirl and a blur to this anxious bride to this day; so the photos beautifully fill in the bits and pieces that are still missing. :D" --

Flora

I am quite smitten and giddy about Flora & Raf's Boracay wedding. Everything about it feels so enchanting! Best wishes to the lovely couple :)
